Everyone has trouble sleeping from time to time and for all sorts of reasons. That may be down to restless kids, worry at work or even excitement for the day to come. That’s perfectly OK when it doesn’t last for days, weeks, months or even years on end. Whether you’ve had a sleep problem for a short time or for decades, our team can help you sleep better.
How do sleep problems start and when should you look for help?
At its extreme, some forms of poor sleep can be categorised as an insomnia disorder, a condition which causes:
- difficulty in getting to sleep or staying asleep
- distress and/or impairment in quality of life
- sleep disturbance three times a week or more across a period of at least three months
However, you don’t need to fit the clinical definition of insomnia to be suffering from the effects of poor sleep. If it’s an ongoing problem for you, you owe it to yourself to get better sleep. Because sleep is so important to optimal body function, a lack of good sleep will negatively affect your life in several different ways. It can:
- increase fatigue during your waking hours
- negatively affect mood (increases in anxiety and low mood are often observed in those with poor sleep)
- reduce the ability to focus and concentrate meaning normally simple tasks are harder
- harm work performance in the form of absenteeism and reduced output
- lead to disease and early death
As such, it’s important to make sure you’re sleeping well, to live the best life you can. Fortunately, insomnia and poor sleep are highly treatable conditions.
What can Sleepstation do to help you sleep better?
At Sleepstation, we offer a highly effective, drug-free, guided treatment for poor sleep and insomnia backed up by decades of sound science called DCBTi, or Digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for insomnia.
This form of therapy addresses beliefs and behaviours that are unhelpful to sleep and empowers you to get a better night’s sleep in doing so.
What do you get with Sleepstation?
What makes Sleepstation unique?
There are a lot of components within a DCBTi course, but what is unique about Sleepstation is that it is guided by a real person every step of the way. This means that you can get the benefits of face-to-face treatment from the comfort of your own home, or anywhere else you’d like. Even if we’re not in the room with you, we’re with you. This contributes to our high success rate (see below).

- available privately or free for NHS patients
What is it like to use Sleepstation?
Because our service is personalised and supported by real people, everyone’s experience is different but there are some parts of the programme that everyone will benefit from.
Sleep assessment and analysis
We’ll assess your sleep over a typical week to determine the causes of your poor sleep and give you an individualised report on whether this treatment is suitable for you and, if it is, how we can help you. There are some causes of poor sleep and insomnia that we can’t treat here at Sleepstation. If this is the case, we will help you find a more appropriate service.
Weekly catch-up sessions
Once we know we can help you, we’ll create a plan for improving your sleep. This might involve methods such as sleep restriction, thought blocking, building a wind down routine and a number of other techniques. We’ll then check in with you regularly to see how you’re getting on with your plan. You’ll be supported every step of the way and we’ll continue to analyse your sleep as you progress through the programme.
This allows us to deliver the best treatment possible, by making adjustments in line with your response to treatment.
A library of information
It’s been shown that DCBTi works far better when you know why we’re asking you to take the steps that we do. For that reason, we have a comprehensive collection of videos, worksheets and other educational materials developed by leading sleep experts, to help you fully understand and stick with the techniques in your personalised sleep plan.
If you have any additional questions that these materials don’t answer, you can reach us quickly by using our in-app messaging service.

What makes Sleepstation special?
We’re highly and consistently effective. Sleepstation stands head and shoulders above other DCBTi services, both because of our higher completion rates and the improvements in sleep quality that people report from using our service. For a more detailed analysis as to why, you can take a look here.
In short, this is because we are a fully supported service. That means that instead of talking to a chat-bot and working through a set of cookie-cutter steps served up by a computer programme, you’re working with people who will get to know you personally and will work with you to help you get the best outcome.
This means that you’re more likely to stay the course with us. It’s like having a training partner at the gym, or a diet buddy; if we’re working with someone else to achieve our goals, we’re more likely to do so, because of the encouragement, motivation and accountability they provide.
While us saying that these things work is one thing, it’s important to look at the data as well:
- 93% of those who completed DCBTi with Sleepstation improved their sleep,
- 84% of those who completed DCBTi with Sleepstation reported recovery from poor sleep and insomnia,
- 47% of depression sufferers who completed the course reported an increase in mood,
- 19% of anxiety sufferers reported feeling less anxious after completing the course.
Moreover, based on NHS referrals, 78% of people eligible for treatment via Sleepstation completed our course (compared to 56% completion rate for sleep apps that aren’t supported like Sleepstation). When you put all this together, it means that with us on your side, the odds of getting better sleep are on your side too.
